CORTLAND, N.Y. — Two Cortland County residents were arrested Tuesday in connection with the theft of two chainsaws from the bed of a pickup truck.
Adam C. Rowe, 29, of Taylor, and Brooke A. Campbell, 25, of Virgil, were pulled over on a vehicle and traffic stop for having an expired vehicle inspection tag, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
Officers learned that both Rowe and Campbell had warrants issued for their arrest in connection with two chainsaws that were taken from a parked pickup truck at a local business in the town of Cortlandville, the release said.
Rowe and Campbell were each charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and conspiracy, a misdemeanor.
Rowe was also charged with drug possession for having heroin and a hypodermic instrument. Campbell was issued a traffic ticket for having an expired inspection.
They were arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court. Rowe was taken to the Cortland County Jail without bail. Rowe was jailed on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
