HOMER, N.Y. — On Wednesday, officers responded to a reported one-car motor vehicle crash on Route 90 in the town of Homer.
Officers arrived to find an unoccupied and damaged vehicle still in the roadway.
The driver, 39-year-old Timothy R. Neilon, had fled the scene but was located by officers shortly after the crash at his residence.
Neilon was traveling west on Route 90, drove off the roadway and struck an earth embankment, authorities said.
Further investigation revealed that Neilon was found to be driving a vehicle while his ability was impaired by drugs. He also had a small child passenger in his vehicle.
Neilon was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, driving while ability impaired by a drug, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, all felonies.
He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and several vehicle and traffic infractions.
Neilon was arrested, processed, and later arraigned in the Town of Homer Court and remanded to the Cortland County Jail $2,000 cash bail.
