CORTLAND, N.Y. — An incident at a home in McGraw Monday night led to the arrest of a Massachusetts woman on felony assault charges.

At around 6:30 p.m. Monday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported assault that occurred at a home on Spring Street in the village of McGraw.

When officers arrived, they met with a 44-year-old male victim who reported that he and 47-year-old Virginia L. Bush, of East Wareham, Massachusetts, had gotten into an argument that turned physical.

During the argument, Bush threatened the victim with a pocket knife. When he attempted to disarm her, he sustained lacerations to his hands which required him to seek medical attention at Cortland Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Bush was taken into custody and charged with second-degree felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing.

During the investigation, authorities also learned that Bush had outstanding bench warrants out of Cortlandville Town Court for a failure to pay fines on an unrelated matter.

Bush was jailed on $2,500 cash bail.
