Drug possession charge for Cortland man

Name: Bronson C. Marshall

Location: Homer Avenue, City of Cortland

Summary: On June 13, 2018, at approximately 7:28 a.m., officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to 179 Homer Ave located in the City of Cortland after being notified by New York State Parole that they were at Marshall’s residence and had come across contraband inside the residence. Through further investigation, investigators learned that Mr. Marshall was in possession of hypodermic needles without a needle exchange card. He was taken into custody without incident and was issued an appearance ticket for Criminally Possessing of a Hypodermic Instrument. Marshall was remanded to the Cortland County Jail for parole violation.

Groton man charged with strangulation

Name: David M. Rath

Location: Groton, N.Y.

Summary: On June 9, 2018. at approximately 2:57 a.m., New York State Police at Ithaca charged 34-year-old David M. Rath with second-degree strangulation, a felony, and misdemeanor assault. Troopers were called to the report of a domestic dispute in the town of Groton. An investigation revealed that Rath strangled and struck the victim’s head against a piece of furniture. Rath was taken to Groton Town Court for arraignment. He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.

Cincinnatus woman charged with drug possession

Name: Katie C. Pittsley

Location: Main Street, City of Cortland

Summary: Pittsley was stopped on Main Street. She had meth and a needle in her possession, police said.

Woman refused to leave home, police said

Name: Victoria L. Rigg

Location: Winter Street, City of Cortland

Summary: Rigg was arrested on June 12, 2018, at 12:29 p.m. for criminal trespassing after she entered and refused to leave a residence on Winter Street, according to Lt. Richard Troyer with the Cortland Police Department.
