Cortland weather: Wednesday showers, hot weekend expected

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Hot days and cool summer nights are ahead, but not before a batch of thunderstorms.

Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected Wednesday into Thursday. Some storms Wednesday night could produce heavy rainfall, with wind gusts up to 25 mph.

Hot, humid weather is forecast for Saturday through Monday, with afternoon heat index values from 100 to 110 degrees.

Showers will taper off by Thursday afternoon, though some cloud coverage will remain. Highs will be in the upper 70s.

The forecast for Friday is sunshine with highs in the lower 80s. Lows will dip into the low 60s overnight.

Temperatures could reach into the lower 90s on Saturday, and Sunday will likely be even hotter, with highs in the mid 90s.
