Shemekia Copeland to perform at Homer Center for the Arts

Electric blues vocalist Shemekia Copeland will return to the Center for the Arts in Homer on Friday, Nov. 16, for a special performance.

Copeland's latest album, America's Child, which is set to drop August 3, marks a new chapter in the singer's journey.

The album was recorded in Nashville and released on Alligator Records. It was produced by Will Kimbrough, who also plays guitar on the album.

Blues Magazine called her album "a courageous and fiery statement of purpose, a major step forward for the singer whose musical consciousness continues to expand as her star continues to rise."
