Cortland police seek man who broke into hotel vending machine

CORTLAND, N.Y. — The City of Cortland Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a person who was seen breaking into a hotel vending machine at a local hotel last week.

Surveillance footage shows a heavyset black male in his mid to late 50s walking into the Hampton Inn on River Street on the evening of Sunday, July 29.

The suspect was not a guest of the hotel, police said. Photos released by the police department show the man entering the hotel and exiting on foot.

The man was wearing a black t-shirt, gray sweatpants and a baseball cap. He is bald with a gray goatee.

Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to contact the Cortland Police Department at (607) 753-3001.
