DWI charge for Marathon man

Name: Matthew Tyler

Location: Route 221, Village of Marathon

Summary: On Thursday, August 9, at approximately 10:18 p.m., Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, stopped a vehicle on Route 221 in the Village of Marathon for speeding. The operator, 40-year-old Matthew D. Tyler, was found to be in an intoxicated condition. He was arrested, processed, and later released to a third party.

Virginia man charged with DWI following crash

Name: Kevin Villanueva-Barrera

Location: Luker Road, Town of Cortlandville

Summary: On August 7, 2018, at approximately 2:36 a.m., officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Luker Road, in the Town of Cortlandville, for multiple property damage crash locations. Officers were able to locate 22-year-old Kevin M. Villanueva-Barrera on McLean Road after following a trail of debris in the roadway. Villanueva-Berrera was traveling west on Luker Road when the
vehicle he was operating went off the roadway, damaging fences, mailboxes, and eventually shearing off
a telephone pole. He was not injured. Upon further investigation, he was found to be in an intoxicated
condition. He was arrested, processed, and later released to a third party.

Groton man charged after damaging boat, police say

Name: Jonathan Oliver

Location: On Tuesday, August 7, troopers were called to a physical argument at a home in the village of Groton.

Summary: Troopers were called to a physical dispute at a home in the village of Groton, Tompkins County. After an investigation, police determined that Oliver hurled a cinderblock at a boat, shattering a glass door. He was charged with criminal mischief.
