Cortlandville man charged with burglary

CORTLAND, N.Y. — A Cortlandville man was arrested Friday in connection with a burglary at a local residence, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office said.

On Friday, Aug. 10, sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic incident in the town of Cortlandville. An investigation determined that 49-year-old George Weir II unlawfully entered a residence in the town of Cortlandville.

One of the residents living at the home had an order of protection against him, authorities said. The sheriff's office then found Weir at his residence.

Weir was arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court on Friday and charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and two counts of second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. He was taken to Cortland County Jail on $400 cash bail.

His next court appearance is Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 11:30 a.m.
