Welfare check leads to arrest

Name: Nicholas B. Clark, 23, of Jordan, N.Y.

Location: 157 Clinton Avenue, Cortland, N.Y.

Summary: Officers responded to check the welfare of an individual inside a vehicle. Officers discovered Clark in the driver's seat and determined he was impaired by drugs. He was charged with operation of a motor vehicle by drugs, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Marathon man tries to elude trooper

Name: Jeremy J. Nye, 36, of Marathon, N.Y.

Location: Route 221 and Route 11, Marathon, N.Y.

Summary: At around 4:05 p.m., Sun., Aug. 12, police arrested Nye for the misdemeanor of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a reported B.A.C. of 0.2 percent. He was also charged with a misdemeanor of reckless driving and several traffic violations. The arrest came after a trooper observed Nye on a motorcycle revving his engine and taking off at a high rate of speed. Nye attempted to flee from the trooper but then laid down his motorcycle and surrendered, police said.

Argument results in charges for homeless man

Name: William S. Lienemann, Jr., 40; homeless

Location: Northcliffe Road, Cortland, N.Y.

Summary: At around 2:50 p.m. Sunday, the defendant became involved in a verbal argument with a 33-year-old female who had a valid order of protection against him. During the argument, he broke a picture frame and screamed at the victim's 9-year-old daughter, police said. He was charged with a felony of criminal contempt and misdemeanors of criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child.

Cortland man charged with disorderly conduct

Name: Nicholas E. Rauner, 67, of Cortland

Location: Main Street, Cortland, N.Y.

Summary: Rauner was arrested on Sat., Aug. 18, at 10:57 p.m. for misdemeanors of criminal tampering, disorderly conduct, and criminal possession of stolen property. While on Main Street, Rauner slammed a stolen shopping cart on Main Street into a potted plant. He later urinated in the booking area of the city police station, according to Lt. Richard Troyer with the City of Cortland Police Department.

Man accused of stealing bike

Name: Patrick S. Mazzone, 36; homeless

Location: Front Street, Cortland, N.Y.

Summary: At around 5:50 a.m. Friday, Mazzone stole a mountain bike from a residence on Front Street, police said. He was charged with petit larceny and released to appear in court Sep. 5.

McGraw man charged after domestic dispute

Name: Richard H. Hickson, 37, of McGraw

Location: McGraw, N.Y. (Private residence at an undisclosed address)

Summary: On Tuesday, Aug. 14, at around 9:47 p.m., New York State Police in Homer arrested 37-year-old Richard H. Hickson for misdemeanors of criminal obstruction of breathing, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief, aggravated unlicesned operation. Troopers were dispatched to a residence in McGraw for a physical domestic dispute. An investigation revealed that Hickson engaged in a physical altercation with a victim. He is accused of choking the victim and taking away a phone from the victim when they attempted to call 911 while in the presence of a child under the age of 17. Hickson then fled the scene. He was later detained by a Cortland County sheriff’s deputy.
