Homer crash results in DWI charge for Liverpool man

CORTLAND, N.Y. — An Onondaga County man is facing a felony DWI charge after a crash in the town of Homer early Sunday morning.

Harold E. Mantor, Jr. of Liverpool, was charged in connection with the crash, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office announced Monday.

The crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18. Mantor crashed into a guide rail on Route 281 in the town of Homer and continued south on the highway until he reached Cortlandville, where he was found parked on the grassy area in front of Action Auto, according to Lt. Karl Atlmann with the county sheriff's office.

Mantor was charged with felony of driving while intoxicated, and numerous traffic infractions, including: refusal to take breath test; inadequate lights; moved from lane unsafely; possession of an open container; failed to use designated lane; and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

His arraignment was held at Cortlandville Town Court Sunday morning. He was taken to the Cortland County Jail on $3,000 cash bail.
