Update: Police identify suspect, victim in fatal Cortland stabbing
CORTLAND, N.Y. — The City of Cortland Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred on Main Street early Wednesday morning.
At around 2:15 a.m., officers responded to to an assault victim on Main Street near the intersection of Groton Avenue.
When they arrived, a male victim was already being treated by EMS personnel for a stab wound to the upper body.
The victim was transported to by ambulance to Cortland Regional Medical Center where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Police are continuing their investigation and no identities are being released at this time.
A portion of the Main Street area near Groton Avenue will be closed off to pedestrian traffic until the scene is released.
