CORTLAND, N.Y. — A Cortland woman was arrested this week for allegedly lying about her employment status to receive unemployment benefits in excess of $6,000 over a three-year period.

Kaire L. Perry, 41, of Cortland, was arrested Tuesday morning, according to Lt. Richard Troyer with the Cortland Police Department.

Perry faces charges of falsifying business records in the first degree and grand larceny in the third degree, both felonies.

According to police, Perry received $6,680.50 in unemployment benefits from 2013 through 2016. An investigation found that Perry reported false information to the New York State Department of Labor regarding her employment status.
