McGraw man accused of 'inappropriately videotaping' person with cellphone

CORTLAND, N.Y. — An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a Cortland County man Friday night who allegedly used their cellphone to take inappropriate footage of another person inside a retail store.

At around 6 p.m. Friday, an anonymous caller called contacted the Cortland County Sheriff's Office to report seeing a man "inappropriately videotaping" another person using a cellphone at the Dollar Tree on Route 13 in Cortlandville, according to Lt. Todd Caufield with the sheriff's office.

The man, later identified as 25-year-old Dakota M. Malision, of McGraw, left the area. He was located by officers at a neighboring store minutes later.

Malison was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with unlawful surveillance in the second degree, a class E felony.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible, authorities said.
