Onondaga County woman accused of stealing $21K from Cuyler Fire Department

CORTLAND, N.Y. — The Cortland County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in connection with stolen funds from the Cuyler Fire Department.

An investigation revealed that 33-year-old Ashley L. Marshall, of Jamesville, took more than $21,000 from the fire department's accounts while she held the position of treasurer, authorities said.

The alleged larceny took place between January of 2015 and September of 2018.

Marshall was arrested Wednesday and arraigned in Truxton Town Court. She was released on her own recognizance and given a return court date of Nov. 26.

She faces charges of grand larceny in the third degree and falsifying business records in the first degree, both felonies.
