Cortland County man killed in fatal crash

WILLET, N.Y. — A Cortland County man was killed in a crash in the town of Willet Sunday, according to state police.

Police in Homer responded to a one-car motor vehicle crash Sunday on Route 221 in Willet after a passerby contacted police to report the accident at around 7:14 a.m.

An investigation revealed that the sole occupant was Israel P. Vidales, 40, of Willet.

The vehicle, a 2008 Dodge Caravan, was located by troopers overturned and wedged between trees, police said.

Vidales is the father of three children, according to posts on social media.

Other agencies that responded included Marathon Ambulance, TLC Ambulance, and the Willet Fire Department. State police say their investigation is continuing.
