CORTLAND, N.Y. — After a chilly overnight, temperatures will rebound into the 30's this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds and the chance for some light snow accumulation.

A clipper system will move across upstate New York tonight, leading to a period of snow late this evening through the overnight across the Syracuse and Utica areas along with parts of the Southern Tier.

On Thursday, this system will head east of the area and result in a slow clearing and ending of snow showers in the morning. A few lake effect snow showers may hang on across the Syracuse and Utica areas. High temperatures will creep into the mid and upper 30s with a potential for 20 mph wind gusts in the afternoon.

Forecasters are monitoring the potential for light freezing rain on Friday. Temperatures will gradually increase late Friday night into the weekend. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
