Cortland woman charged with criminal mischief

Name: Miranda-Cruz, 27, of Cortland

Charges: Criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor; harassment in the second degree, a violation

Details: On Monday, Jan. 21, at about 11:04 a.m., Miranda-Cruz was arrested after she fought with a 40-year-old female at a house on Clinton Avenue. During the altercation, Miranda-Cruz intentionally damaged a stereo speaker belonging to the other woman, police said. She was arraigned in Cortland City Court and released on an appearance ticket.

Drug stop leads to arrest

Name: Joshua P. Gill, 32, of Cortland

Charges: Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, a misdemeanor; unlawful possession of marijuana, unlicesned operator, and inadequate muffler, violations

Details: Shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, Cortland County sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle on Central Avenue, near Church Street, in Cortland for a loud exhaust. Gill was driving with a suspended license and in possession of a controlled substance and marijuana, the sheriff's office said. He was arrested and released on appearance tickets.

DWI arrests

Name: Casey R. Burns, 39, of Cortland

Charge: Driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; driving with .08 percent or more of alcohol, a misdemeanor

Details: At around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, deputies stopped a vehicle being driven by Burns on Route 13 in Cortland for inadequate lights. An officer determined that Burns was intoxicated. He was arrested, processed, and later released to a third party.

Name: Eduardo Torres-Sierra

Charges: Driving while intoxicated with a .08 Blood Alcohol Content or higher, a misdemeanor; driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; failure to keep right, refusal of breathalyzer screening, and driving across hazard markings, violations

Details: At around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, officers stopped a vehicle on Starr Road in Cortlandville for failing to keep right. The driver, 43-year-old Eduardo Torres-Sierra, was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested, processed, and later released to a third party.
