Three cars collide on Tompkins Street

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Traffic momentarily came to a halt on Tompkins Street Friday afternoon after three cars collided at a busy intersection.

At 1:30 p.m., the Cortland Fire Department was called to a reported crash involving three vehicles at the corner of Tompkins Street and Delaware Avenue.

The crash involved one SUV and two four-door car passenger cars. Four adults and two children were evaluated at the scene, with no apparent injuries, according to Cortland Deputy Fire Chief Bill Knickerbocker.

Knickerbocker said the cause of the accident has not been determined.

The roadway was cleared for traffic by 2:30 p.m. The Cortland Police Department and TLC Ambulance assisted firefighters at the scene.
