Cortland man charged with drug possession
Name: Eric Brayton, 41, of Church Street, Cortland
Charges: Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a felony; criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a misdemeanor
Details: At around 10:20 a.m. Friday, Eric Brayton was arrested following a search of his room conducted by New York State Parole, city police said. Brayton was found to be in possession of bath salts and an electronic scale. He was arraigned in Cortland City Court and taken to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
Chenango County woman arrested
Name: Dulce Brown, 25, of Sherburne
Charges: Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor; criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a misdemeanor
Details: At around 11 a.m. Friday, Brown was arrested on Port Watson Street after she was found to be in possession of meth and an electronic scale, police said. She was arraigned in Cortland City Court and taken to the Cortland County Jail on $100 bail.
Search warrant leads to arrest
Name: Carlos Planas, 34, of Hubbard Street, Cortland
Charges: Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a felony; criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor; two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation
Details: On Christmas Eve, officers from the Cortland Police Department and the Cortland County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the home of Carlos Planas. The search resulted in the seizure of 46 bags containing crack cocaine, two illegal handguns, $5,000 in U.S. currency, and marijuana. As a result of the investigation, warrants were obtained for Planas. On Friday, Planas was located in a vehicle and arrested on those warrants. He taken to the Cortland County Jail on $7,500 cash bail.
Drug possession charge for Cortland man
Name: Jeremiah Pless, 57, of Pendleton Street, Cortland
Charges: Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor
Details: Pless was found in the same vehicle as Planas and was in possession of cocaine and marijuana. He was arrested and taken to jail on $1,000 cash bail.
DWI arrests
Name: Steven Vesseli, 53, of Toms River, New Jersey
Charges: Driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; refusal to take a breathalyzer test, a violation; drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, a violation
Details: Vesseli was arraigned in Cortland City and released. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Feb. 20.
Name: Dominick M. Milliron, 21, of Piety Ridge Road, Marathon
Charges: Driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; driving with a B.A.C. of more than .08 percent, a misdemeanor; unregistered and uninspected motor vehicle, a violation; failure to keep right, a violation
Details: At around 1 a.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle being driven by Milliron on Conrad Road in Marathon for failing to keep right. Deputies determined that Milliron was intoxicated. He was arrested, processed, and later released to a third party. He is due in Marathon Town Court on Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
Name: Jeffrey L. King, 30, of Camp Springs, Maryland
Charges: Driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; driving while intoxicated with .08 percent or higher B.A.C., a misdemeanor; failure to keep right, a violation
Details: At around 5:18 a.m. Saturday, deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 281 in the town of Cortlandville for failing to keep right. Upon further investigation, the driver was found to be intoxicated. King was arrested, processed, and later arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court. He was released with a future court date of Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. in Cortlandville Town Court.
