MCGRAW, N.Y. — The McGraw boys basketball team defeated Stockbridge Valley 47-36 on senior night, improving to a 15-4 overall record and first place in the Central Counties League with an 11-1 league record.

Great ball movement from the Golden Eagles allowed senior Brendan May to lead all scorers for the Eagles, notching a  career high of 16 total points, with only two of them coming from the line. He also led his team in rebounding with 17 boards.

McGraw senior Chase Curtis followed May by scoring 13 total points, with three of them coming off from behind the arc.

“Our seniors have worked hard the entire season,” said McGraw head coach Derek Allen. “Every time there is a ball on the floor they dive after it. Every time a shot goes up, they box out. We’ve got sectionals coming up soon and hopefully we keep on working hard.”

McGraw dominated for the first three quarters, ending the third by a score of 43-19.

Stockbridge Valley started making a comeback in the final quarter, outscoring McGraw 17-4, but it was too late for the Cougars.

Kaleb Jones led Stockbridge Valley, scoring a total of 15 points, nine of them coming from behind the arc.

Stockbridge Valley now sits on a 5-13 overall record and is 5-6 in the Central Counties League.
