CORTLAND, N.Y. — A city man pled guilty to failing to register as a sex offender Tuesday in Cortland County Court after he did not inform authorities that he changed his email account.

Brian K. Lockwood was convicted of felony first-degree sexual abuse in 2003 and sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years of probation, according to court documents.

Lockwood is also required to register as a violent sexual offender for the rest of his life, according to a 2003 Appellate Division Supreme Court ruling.

District Attorney Patrick Perfetti said he would recommend a probation sentence as Lockwood did not comply with administrative conditions of his registration.

“That (probation) will increase his level of supervision within the community,” Perfetti said.
