Cortland Weather Outlook: Snow may return this week

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Many Cortland residents may not have expected to wake up to 6 inches of snow Monday morning, but here we are.

Scattered snow showers across central New York have largely dissipated, and sunshine looks likely for the rest of the afternoon. The high temperature today is 35 degrees, and low temperatures will fall to around 20 degrees overnight.

The main issue Tuesday will be dry weather and wind gusts. A high of 50 degrees is possible.

Gusts of 20-30 mph will become common on Wednesday as a dry front dips into the region. Highs will be mainly in the 50s, and lows in the upper 20s are anticipated for Wednesday night.

After the dry cold front passes the area late Wednesday, a return to cooler temperatures is expected. This leaves the chance for some mixed precipitation late Thursday night into Friday morning, but amounts will be fairly light.
