Police Blotter: Six charged with DWI in Cortland County

Accused: Ian Downes, 23, of 3602 Parti Drive, Cortlandville

Charges: Driving while intoxicated as a first offense and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent, misdemeanors; operating with stickers in the rear window, a violation

Details: Downes was pulled over about 2:00 a.m. Saturday on Main Street for driving a vehicle with stickers in the rear window and was discovered to be intoxicated, according to city police. Downes was released and is set to return at 9 a.m., April 12 to Cortland City Court.

Accused: Ian Clark, 29, of 99 Burge Hill Road, Newfield, New York

Charges: Driving while intoxicated as a first offense, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.18 percent and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanors, as well as speeding and failing to properly signal, violations.

Details: Clark was pulled over about 2:35 a.m. Saturday after an officer saw him turn onto Graham Avenue without using a proper signal and determined he was intoxicated, according to city police. Clark was released and is set to return at 9 a.m., April 12 to Cortland City Court.

Accused: Fern Avana, 55, of 2914 Bayview Avenue, Wantagh, Nassau County

Charges: Driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent, misdemeanors, as well as crossing road hazard markings, a violation Details: Avanna was stopped at 12:54 a.m. Sunday after an officer saw her driving outside her designated lane on Tompkins Street, according to city police. Details: Deputies were called about 11:30 p.m. Saturday to a residence on McGraw-Marathon Road in Solon for a suspicious vehicle complaint and discovered Bennett in a vehicle parked in the yard, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. Bennett was intoxicated, according to police.

Bennett was released and is set to reappear on April 24 in Solon Town Court.
