CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. — Cortland County sheriff's deputies arrested an Erie County man Tuesday following an investigation into sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl.
Robert A. Burnett, 27, of Alden, N.Y., has been charged with first-degree sex abuse, a felony, along with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
An investigation revealed that Burnett had inappropriate contact with a 7-year-old female while they lived at the same residence in the town of Cortlandville during the fall of 2016.
Burnett was arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court on Tuesday. He was released with a return date of May 6 at 1 p.m.
