City police arrested a Cortland teen for stealing an electric bike from a special needs man who used it as his primary source of transportation, according to the department.

Lucas Coville, 17, of 78 Clinton Ave. was arrested about 1:10 p.m. Wednesday after an investigation into the theft of the bicycle, worth more than a $1,000, on May 15 from outside the County Office Building at 60 Central Ave., according to police.

Coville was caught on camera and a witness identified him, said Lt. Michael Strangeway.

Police are continuing to search for the bicycle as it was reportedly stolen again from Coville after he took it, Strangeway said.

The bicycle is a black and yellow Pride-1 electric bicycle and officers request that any tips about its location be directed to the City Police Department, 25 Court St., at 753-3001.

Coville was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and released after arraignment in City Court. He is set to reappear at 9 a.m. June 9 in City Court.
