Forecasters predict perfect summer weather for Memorial Day.

The sun will be shining all day long, with temperatures as high as 71 degrees, making it a perfect day for a memorial day barbecue.

There will also be calm winds of up to nine miles per hour late in the afternoon.

However, heavy showers are expected for the remainder of this week.

Here is a look at the weather for the rest of the week from the National Weather Service in Binghamton:

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a 70 percent chance of showers and possible thunderstorms. Showers are said to start at eight in the morning and continue for the rest of the day.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, along a high of near 75 degrees and a low in the low 60s.

Thursday: Forecasters anticipate a 50 percent chance of rain, with a mostly cloudy day and high temperatures in the mid 70s during the day and in the low 50s at night.

Friday: Partly sunny during the day, with temperatures as high as in the high 60s and clear skies at night, with low temperatures in the mid 40s.

Saturday: Sunny, with clear skies and high temperatures near 72 degrees, but with a 30 percent chance of rain at night, with temperatures as low as in the low 50s.

Sunday: A chance of rain, with a cloudy day and temperatures as high as 72 degrees.
