McGraw baseball headed to Section III Class D finals

The 7th seeded McGraw Eagles are now in the Section III Class D finals after defeating the Poland Tornadoes in a close semi-final match, 19-13.

McGraw started the game at the top of the first inning by scoring 4 runs, but Poland answered by scoring 10 runs.

By the fifth inning, McGraw was able to shut down Poland's offense completely for the rest of the game.

Senior Chris Pickert led the Eagles with a total of four runs, two RBI's and three hits, two of which were triples. He was also successful from the mound, earning eight strikeouts in six innings.

Following Pickert was fellow senior Tyler Card, who also had four runs. He also finished the game with a total of three RBI's, one hit and three walks.

The Eagles will be going against number one seed Lyme at the sectional finals Sunday, June 2, at Murnane Field in Utica.
