Cortland weather: Clear skies for first day of summer

After heavy rain showers yesterday, forecasters are predicting skies will start to clear up this afternoon.

Forecasters are predicting highs in the upper 60s today. Skies will completely clear up going into evening hours. However, temperatures will then drop to a low around 49 degrees.

Here is a look at the rest of this weekend's weather forecast, along with the beginning of next week, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton:

Saturday: Sunny, with temperatures reaching a high near 70 degrees throughout the day. Skies will still be clear at night, with temperatures dropping to a near 49 degrees.

Sunday:  Sunny, with temperatures rising to a high near 75 degrees during the day. It will then start to get cloudy at night, with temperatures dropping to about 55 degrees.

Monday: Partly sunny, with there being a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms and showers after 9 a.m. Temperatures will reach a high near 80 degrees during the day and a low around 62 degrees at night.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with there being a 60 percent chance of rain all day. Temperatures will reach a high around 76 degrees during the day and decrease to about 59 degrees at night.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with temperatures increasing to a high around 76 degrees during the day. There will be a small chance of showers throughout the day, with there being a 40 percent chance of precipitation. Going into the evening, temperatures will drop to around 57 degrees.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with temperatures reaching a high near 76 degrees.
