CORTLAND, N.Y. — Students, parents, faculty, and community members filled the Corey Gymnasium at SUNY Cortland Saturday morning for the graduating class of 2019 at Homer Central High School.
The ceremony was the 73rd in the history of Homer Central High School and the 199th anniversary of the Homer Academy and High School.
High School Principal Douglas Van Etten says he is looking forward to seeing the accomplishments of his students.
"No matter where you end up in life, I want you to remember that you are always welcome home," he said.
Adam Brown, Class of 2019 Valedictorian, reminded his fellow classmates to remain humble.
"While some of us may be proud of the names we've built for ourselves so far, others may wish they had a second chance," Brown said. "Well, good news. This is the end of high school and the beginning of something totally new."
