A line of strong thunderstorms and heavy showers will affect Southern Cortland along with counties around the area, such as Tompkins, Cayuga and many more.

At 1:50 p.m, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms near Ithaca, moving east at about 30 miles per hour.

Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour are possible with these storms.

Heavy rainfall will also take effect during these storms, leading to minor flooding.

Precautionary Actions: 

Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

If you are near a lake, get out if the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lighting can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lighting. Move to safer shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorms.
