CORTLAND, N.Y- A group of young firefighters from all over the state came together, as they were welcomed by the Firemen's Association of the State of New York at Cortland County on Saturday.

These young firefighters from the age of 15 to 18, came to the Regional Training Center of Cortland County, in order to learn from experts about the job.

They were able to participate and practice, by facing similar challenges firefighters come across upon on a daily basis.

These challenges include, manning fire hoses, roof rescues, search and rescues, working with hazardous materials and many more.

They were also taught about fire survival skills.

According to the Firemen's Association of the State of New York, this is a program that is taught every year.

With this program, the FASNY is able to mentor the next generation of New York state firefighters.

"Young firefighters come from departments across the state and beyond to participate," the FASNY posted on their website.
