Cortland-Homer 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing

This week will mark the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing; and the cities of Cortland and Homer are hosting a series of events to celebrate this historic moment.

Events will commence on Tuesday, July 16 and end on Saturday July 20.

Events include a Trivia Night, Moon pies and Tang, kite making, rocket making, tie-dyeing, Hula-hoops with cos-play characters from “The Guardians of the Galaxy and many more.

One of the biggest highlights throughout this week of events however, will be the at the CNY Living History Center. With Matthew Abraham speaking and bringing the famous Apollo 11 mission to life on Saturday from 1-2 p.m.

Abraham serves as a pilot in the NY Air National Guard.

He is a NASA historian and a former history teacher, who has spent much time researching the Apollo missions launched by the United States.
