Did you know that the Cortland YMCA is host to a FREE Tobacco Cessation Support Group on the third Thursdays of the Month?

However, according to the Cortland County Health Department, there will be a support group meeting tomorrow, July 16 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 22 Tompkins Street, Cortland.

Cayuga Medical Center’s cessation guru, Kathy Eliason, is the group facilitator.

If you have questions, you can contact Kathy at (607) 252-3590. She will help individuals develop their own plan.

Classes are also held on select days in Ithaca at the Cayuga Med and Ithaca YMCA locations.

E-cigarettes (including the popular JUUL brand) are not a proven aid to help people quit. The good news is that there are seven FDA approved medications available!  And Medicaid covers them.

The Tobacco Free Zone program urges people to talk with their healthcare provider about a personalized plan. The NYS Smokers’ Quitline is another FREE service: 1-866-NY-QUITS or NYSmokefree.com
