Homer woman charged after altercation with child

HOMER, N.Y. — A Homer woman is facing two felonies after she struck a child with a hammer and threatened to harm the child with a knife, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. 

Kyna K. Malchak, 40, of 5243 Health Camp Road was arrested Friday, July 12, after deputies were called to her home at 9:35 a.m. for a reported fight, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Malchak was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree assault, felonies; she was also charged with second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.
