Weekend of Events: What's happening in Cortland County?

This weekend, there will be a variety of events happening in and around Cortland County including live music, a carnival, and:

The Route 90 Garage Sale

On both Saturday, July 27 and Sunday July 28, The annual 50 mile Route 90 Garage Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stretching along the roadside of Route 90, sales will run from Montezuma to the souther end of the Village of Homer.

People along with their family and friends, will be able to take advantage of the low prices this 50 mile long garage sale has to offer.

Cortland Main Street Music Series

The Main Street Music Series will host their fourth and last free concert of the month on Friday, July 26 from 5:30 - 9 p.m. at the city lot between 64 and 76 Main St.

The headline of the event will be guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer. Since he was 16 years old, “Taz” has performed in some of the biggest stages in the country. As the young guitarist has shared stages with greats such as Buddy Guy, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Umphrey’s Magee, Twiddle and many more.

The opening sets of the night will feature a solo performance by Marc Ryan, who is the front man for Tribal Revival. Followed by Mike Powell and the Black River. Mike Powell is not only known for his music, but also because of how he has become a lacrosse legend at Syracuse University.

Gates will open at 5 p.m.

Community Carnival

The Salvation Army at Cortland will be hosting a Community Carnival this Saturday, July 27 at Yaman Park.

The carnival will last from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be games, prizes, food and much more fun for people to enjoy.

JTM Ruck Club Canned Food Drive

On Saturday, July 27, The JTM Ruck Club is finalizing the last day of their canned food drive for which all donations will go toward Catholic Charities of Cortland County.

For the past month, the club has been actively adding drop off locations around the area for its non-perishable food drive; where people in the community are able to donate canned goods and distribute them into bins located at certain drop off locations.

It will be a 3-5 mile ruck with drink and food stops along the way.

There will be a total of around 14 stops along the way.

The club will begin their journey at Hartleys Auto & RV and move to other drop off locations, such as Bru 64, Brix Pub, Spiedini's pizza and many more.

The final ruck pick up event will take place from 3-8 p.m.
