Weekend of events: What to do in Cortland County?

There are always different things to do at and around the Cortland County area on the weekends including festivals, live music and much more.

Cortland Arts & Wine Festival

The 13th Annual Arts and Wine Festival will take place on Saturday August 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cortland’s Courthouse Park.

The festival is free admission and open to the public.

However, there will be a fee for admission to the wine tent, which includes tastings from wineries across the State of New York.

This is an enjoyable event for the whole family, with so many activities going on at the same time.

These activities include live music, artistic and entertainment activities for kids, stations with over 40 artists, a sidewalk art contest and much more.

Seedstock Music Festival

The annual Seedstock Music Festival will take place this weekend at 3336 Route 215 Cortland, NY 13045.

The festival will be featuring a variety of both local and non-local artists in an expand of three days.

The first concert will begin on Friday August 2nd from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Saturday August 3rd, will go all day long from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. and Sunday August 4th, will go from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be food concessions available throughout the festival.

You must be 21-years-old or older to consume alcohol at the festival. However, no alcohol will be sold at the festival itself.

Homer Community Blood Drive

The Homer Community Blood Drive will be held this Saturday, August 3rd, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Homer 1st United Methodist Church, 16 Cayuga Street, on the Green.

Anyone who wishes to donate can call and make an appointment at 1-800-RED-CROSS or sign up at www.redcrossblood.org

People with appointments are given first priority, but walk-ins are welcome as well.

First Friday Art Night

On the first Friday of every month, Cortland joins a nationwide movement to acknowledge and celebrate the arts in the local community.

Participating galleries, studios, artists, interested businesses, music and performing arts venues will be open to the public from 5 pm to 8 pm to spotlight the arts, according to the First Friday Art Night Facebook tab. 

The event will take place at the Cultural Council of Cortland County, 72 S Main St, Homer, NY 13077.
