Weekend of Events: What to do around Cortland County?

 

No matter what your interests are, there is always something to do at and around the Cortland County area on the weekends.

Here are some of the events happening this weekend in Cortland County:

1. Cortland PorchFest

On Sunday August 18th, Cortland will be celebrating their fourth annual PorchFest, featuring a variety of local bands and games for the whole family to enjoy.

Bands will be performing on porches and driveways on the streets of Van Hoesen, Chestnut, Harrison, Joy and Hamlin.

It will begin at noon and go until 6 p.m.

There will be a total of 37 local bands and acts throughout the event.

During the event, there will also be food vendors, such as the M&D Deli Central and the Cortland Crush Dog House along with an activity booth filled with fun games and crafts for kids of all ages.

2. Ninth Annual Magic on Main

The Ninth Annual Magic on Main event is taking place this Friday August 16th at Main Street in Homer from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event is hosted by the Homer Business Association.

There will be fun for the whole family at the event, including live music, food from local eateries, magicians, car clubs and much more.

3. Macbeth: Shakespeare in the Park

This will be the final weekend of the Center for the Arts Shakespeare in the Park, featuring the famous tragedy of "Macbeth."

This is a well known Shakespearean classic that will be performed by an all ages cast at the Suggett Park located in Homer Ave.

The show first premiered last weekend. However, the last three days of the show will be this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The show is free to the public.

4. Operation Elks for Vets

The Homer Elks Lodge located on 82 Cortland St, Homer, New York 13077, will be hosting Operation Elks for Vets this Saturday August 17th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It is a free event for veterans, active military members, and their families to enjoy.

The first 75 families will receive a swag bag along with a great chicken bbq lunch.
