Throughout the year, the Cortland Free Library offers a variety of youth services and events for kids and teens to participate every week.

There will be many events for not just kids to enjoy, but for the whole family to do so as well this week.

The week will start off with a Blast Off with famous astronaut Sally Ride, an interactive performance that will be presented by Sheryl Faye today at 6 p.m.

During this performance, Faye will share Ride's story on becoming an astronaut. There will be a book giveaway and a LEGO raffle as well.

Then at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday there will be a baby and toddler time for children from the ages of birth to two-years-old, where there will be fun rhymes, stories and songs being played.

At 6 p.m on Wednesday, there will be chess club for kids and teens of all ages. It doesn't matter if you are an expert or a beginner. There will be lessons on the basics of the game if you are a beginner.

Finally, to end the week on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. there will be story time for kids age three to five. Kids will be able to enjoy songs, stories and other activities at this time.

Following as the last event of the week, the Cortland Free Library is hosting a Teen Dance Mania at 4 p.m., where kids of ages 12 to 18 will be able to enjoy a Nintendo Wii Just Dance Party. However, registration for this specific event is required.
