Approximately 50 firefighters at the scene on Davis Rd. fire yesterday

Yesterday morning, the McLean Fire Department responded fire and rescue units to a structure fire at 603 Davis Rd. where approximately 50 firefighters responded.

Mutual aid was received from Groton, Freeville, Dryden, Locke, Cortlandville, Homer, Lansing, and Cayuga Heights Fire Departments and Groton Ambulance, Tompkins County Dept. of Emergency Response, NYS Police, and NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

Moravia Fire Department was on stand-by to cover additional calls in the area.

The Fire Department was dispatched at 8:05 am for a structure fire.

When the first firefighters arrived they found smoke and flames showing from the 2-story home.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 40 minutes. There was significant damage to the home.

There were no injuries reported. A pet cat was located inside the home and was found without a pulse.  The cat was treated at the scene and transported to Cornell Companion Animal Hospital

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
