Yesterday, the Mcgraw Varsity Girls Soccer team improved their undefeated regular season record to 7-0-1 after defeating Brookfield (6-1) at home.

The Lady Eagles came out dominating as soon as the game started. They controlled the whole midfield by keeping possession of the ball and applying pressure on their opponent’s side of the field.

With the Eagles controlling the midfield, they were able to get many passes down the sidelines, therefore leading them to score.

"We always try to play the ball to feet and connect through the midfield and finding each other as a team," said McGraw head coach Rachel Parker. "They have been working really well and this is a whole team effort."

The first goal of the game was scored by senior midfielder Ashley Neff, after receiving a cross from Bayley Meade; leaving her in front of the goal to tap the ball in with 28:58 left in the first half.

Then about ten minutes later, Meade struck from outside the box, catching Brookfield’s goalkeeper off guard and giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

Before the end of the first half, McGraw junior Elyssa Fish gave McGraw a comfortable 3-0 lead after putting the ball on the back the net off an assist from freshman, Megan Stull.

Coming into the second half, McGraw did not pull back and kept complete control of the game. With Meade scoring her second goal of the game, making it 4-0 with 29:16 left in the game.

Shortly after, junior Emily Fish landed the finishing blow by scoring two goals in a row and making it 6-0.

However, with the game already lost, Brookfield were still looking for chances to get at least one goal in. Then with about six seconds left on the clock, Brookfield’s Jenna Bugbee striked a screamer from about 35 yards out to make it 6-1.

Next, the Eagles will be taking on Cincinnatus at SUNY Cortland this Saturday, September 28th. Game will start at 7 p.m. right after the boys' game.
