The Homer Central Girls' Varsity Volleyball team defeated Cazenovia in three straight sets last night at home, improving their overall record to 9-2.

The Trojans had to put up an intense fight on the first set of the match. With both Homer and Cazenovia going at each other back and forth. However, the Trojans were able to win that set (26-24), giving them an early lead and an increase in momentum.

"On the first set, I think we just showed a lot of nerves," said Homer head coach Jeremy Cook. "It's always a big match going against Cazenovia. After that first set we realized that we are going to be alright and we were able to loosen up a little bit and play really hard."

After that, it was lights out for the Trojans. With them dominating the rest of the match and winning the following two sets (25-11) and (25-9).

Seniors Delaney Hartnett, Allyson Natale and Kaia Hubbard led the offense with a combine of 21 kills 20 digs and 22 assists.

"We haven't beaten Cazenovia in eight years, we always have really tough matches against them," said coach Cook. "Our game plan was to just really play our game. We've been having a pretty good season, coming in 8-2 tonight. But we needed to make sure we eliminated our mistakes and being good on our side of the net. I'm really proud of how the team played tonight."
