Homer man pronounced dead after construction vehicle accident in Tully

This past Wednesday October 9th, Homer man and Suit-Kote employee, Jeffrey Stout, 41, suffered a traumatic injury after being hit by a dump truck on Route 80 and Woodmancy Road in Tully. Stout was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s office, John Ferris, 65, of Cortland was backing up a 2005 Western Star dump truck and accidentally hit Stout as he was directing traffic.

Ferris is also an employee at Suit-Kote.

A helicopter was called to the scene along with multiple emergency response agencies.

Route 80 was closed for several hours as sheriff’s office investigators processed the scene.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s office, the investigation is still ongoing.

According to Stout’s obituary, there will be a memorial service for Stout at 11 a.m. this upcoming Monday October 14th, at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer.
