City runaway found uninjured

A 14-year-old city girl who ran away from home Friday was discovered riding her bicycle on Port Watson Street this morning, according to the city police department. 

Alaina Waite was reported missing overnight Friday after she snuck out of her home in the afternoon, bicycled to the transit bus stop at the Cortland County Office Building and took a bus to Cincinnatus, according to her mother Karen Waite.

Waite was physically unharmed and told officers she spent the weekend with a friend in McGraw, said Lt. Michael Strangeway this morning.

New York State Police and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office assisted  in the investigation.
