This past weekend on Saturday October 19th, the Marathon Olympians defeated Trumansburg Central (2-0) at Tompkins Cortland Community College to win the IAC Championship.
The Olympians went through the season undefeated with a 14-0-1 overall record.
The first goal of the game was scored by senior Cameron Neilson. Then, the second goal went in with only a few seconds left as Trumansburg Central pulled their goalie out, leaving an open net for junior Trent O'Neil to land the finishing blow and make it 2-0.
Marathon is now ranked #1 in the Section IV Class D playoffs bracket. They will have a first round bye, as other Section IV teams will play each other in the round of 16 this Wednesday, October 23rd.
The Olympians will make their 2019 playoffs debut on Saturday October 26th at home for the Quarter Finals. The game will start at 3:30 p.m. They will be going against either #8 ranked Milford or #9 ranked Edmeston.
