With the end of the Fall sports regular season, many Cortland County Varsity teams made it into sectionals.
There are a total of four schools in Cortland County on Section III (Cortland, Homer, McGraw and Cincinnatus) and there is one school on Section IV (Marathon).
Following, are all of the teams that made it into Sectionals along with their upcoming schedule. However, there are some Fall Sports such as Volleyball and many more that their Sectionals Playoffs schedule will be announced on a later date.
Cortland Purple Tigers-
The girls’ varsity soccer team made it into the Section III Class A playoffs with them being ranked #4 In the bracket. The girls ended the regular season with an 11-5 overall record.
The Lady Tigers will be facing the #5 ranked Watertown in the quarter finals at home on Thursday, October 24th. The game will start at 6 p.m.
The Cortland Field Hockey team ended their regular season with a 7-6-2 record.
They will be going against #2 ranked Holland Patent on Tuesday October 29th at 3 p.m. at Central Valley Academy.
The 3-4 Homer Football team are seeded #8 in the Section III Class B Sectional Playoffs this year.
They will be going head to head against #1 seeded and undefeated Oneida this Friday October 25th. The game will be at Oneida and kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The lady Trojans will be going against Mount Markham at home tonight, Tuesday October 22nd at 6:30 p.m. in order to qualify for the first round of playoffs. The winner of this game will be facing #1 seeded Central Valley.
The Lady Trojans are currently seeded #16 on this year's Class B Sectional playoffs bracket.
This year the McGraw Eagles boys soccer team made it into the Section III Class D playoffs after being ranked #11 with a 10-5 overall record.
The Eagles will be playing their first round of Sectionals on Wednesday October 23rd at 3 p.m. against #6 ranked Faith Heritage on the road.
The lady Eagles ended their regular season undefeated with a 14-0-2 record. They are seeded at #4 in the Section III Class D playoffs and will be going against Sackets Harbor at 3 p.m. today at home for the first round of playoffs.
If McGraw wins this game, they will be playing at home again on Thursday, October 24th against either Cincinnatus or Belleville-Heneron.
The #5 seeded Cincinnatus Lions will be hosting their league opponent, Stockbridge Valley on Wednesday, October 23rd for a 3:00 p.m. game.
The Lions ended their regular season with only one loss and an overall record of 13-1-2.
The boys won sectionals last year and will be looking for a two-peat this year.
Just like the Boys, the Cincinnatus Lady Lions will be looking towards winning Sectionals for a second year in a row.
The #12 seeded Varsity team will be on the road today, Tuesday October 22nd to face the #5 seeded Belleville Henderson for a first round of playoffs.
With a win today and depending on the outcome of the other games, the Lady Lions will be either facing their Cortland County rival, McGraw or Sackets Harbor on Thursday, October 24th.
With the #1 seeded Olympians having a first round BYE on the Section IV Class D Sectional playoffs this year, they will be making their 2019 playoffs debut on Saturday October 26th at home for the Quarter Finals.
The game will start at 3:30 p.m. They will be going against either #8 ranked Milford or #9 ranked Edmeston.
The Olympians went undefeated this regular season with a 14-0-1 overall record and will be looking to once again win their Section.
The Marathon Girls soccer team are currently ranked #5 in there Section IV Class D Sectional Playoffs bracket with them ending their regular season with an 8-5-1 record.
The Lady Olympians will be playing against #12 seeded Worcester tomorrow Wednesday October 23rd at home. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Lady Olympians were supposed to take on Worcester today (October 22nd), but the game was postponed due to upcoming rain showers.
The #4 seeded Marathon Field Hockey team will be hosting the #5 seeded Deposit-Hancock at home on Thursday, October 24th at 3:30 p.m. for the first round of the section IV Class C playoffs.
The Lady Olympians finished their regular season with a 9-6 overall record.
