Section III boys sports wrap-up: Cincinnatus boys soccer advance to Semi-Finals

There were three Cortland County boys sports team who played in their Sectional match-ups last night.

The Cincinnatus boys soccer team were able to come up with a win in order to advance to the Sectionals Semi-Finals. However, both the Homer football team and McGraw boys soccer suffered tough losses and were knocked out of the Sectional playoffs.

Homer Football

Last night the #8 seed Homer football team traveled to face the #1 seed Oneida for the first round of the Section III Class B football Playoffs.

The Trojans suffered a tough 49-14 loss against the undefeated 7-0 team.

In the second Quarter the Trojans were down 21-0 until senior quarterback Dylan ran in for a touchdown to make it 21-7 before the end of the first half.

Then Oneida went on to score four more touchdowns before junior Andrew VanPatten scored to make it 49-14 by the end of the fourth quarter.

McGraw Boys Soccer

The McGraw boys soccer team were on the road last night as they traveled to Poland to play the Quarter-Finals of the Section III Class D Playoffs.

The Eagles suffered a tough 3-0 loss against the #3 seed Poland.

The Eagles were able to defeat Poland in a home game during the regular season, but came up short on this one.

Cincinnatus Boys Soccer

Last night the Cincinnatus Lions traveled to Manlius Pebble Hill to play the Quarter-Finals of the Section III Class D Playoffs.

It was a close game against the #4 seed Manlius Pebble Hill, but Cincinnatus were able to come out victorious with a 1-0 win.

The Lions will now be traveling to Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School for the Semi-Finals to face the #9 seeded Fabius-Pompey. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

The winner will face either Poland or Lyme in the Finals.
