City Police: Homer woman arrested for rape

A Homer woman was arrested Wednesday for twice raping a 15-year-old boy last fall at a residence on Union Street, acording to city police.

Alexandra Lieber, 22, of 2634 Route 13, was arrested at 4 p.m. at the City Police station on Court Street after she turned herself in, said Lt. Michael Strangeway.

Police officers from Johnson City, Broome County, provided information about Lieber to City police after the Southern Tier department investigated a case involving Lieber and the boy, Strangeway said. The investigation revealed the rapes occurred at a Union Street residence, he said.

Lieber raped the boy - whom she knew - in August and September, according to a police news release.

She was charged with felony, third-degree rape for engaging in sex with someone under the age of 17 while over the age of 21, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, according to police. Lieber was charged with one count of rape only as detectives were not able to establish what dates the rapes occurred on, while they were able to corroborate they happened, Strangeway said.

After an arraignment in City Court, Lieber was released and is scheduled to reappear at 9 a.m. Nov. 11.
