Owners: Dog lost from Tully kennel

After a German Shephard mix escaped her Tully boarding kennel, the owners and Good Samaritans are continuing to search today for the dog that went missing a week ago.

Summer, a six-year-old, shephard-rottweiler mix, went missing from the Gurrz & Purrz boarding kennel at 2094 State Route 80, according to owner Tom Michaels.

Michaels, of Buffalo, was travelling with his fianceè for a family funeral, and was recommended to the shelter by a family friend in Skaneatles.

The kennel owners said they had left Summer outside alone to relieve herself on Oct.27 and that she escaped from the fenced-in yard, Michaels said. The dog was last sighted on Friday near the Beak and Skiff Apple Orchards and 1911 Tasting Room on Route 80 in Lafayette, he said. The dog is very skittish around new people and could not be enticed by those who spotted the dog to come near, Michaels said.

“My main motivation right now is to get the dog found,” Michaels said on Friday.

Gurrz and Purrz did not immediately respond to an interview request. The groomer and kennel is well-reviewed on Facebook, with customers writing in 2018 the owner is friendly, loving and caring towards animals, and patient.
