Last night the #2 seed Homer varsity volleyball team suffered a difficult 1-3 loss against #1 seed Westhill in the Section III Class B Championship game.

The lady Trojans put up an incredible fight in all four sets played. In the first set, Homer lost 19-25. The game then turned into an ongoing battle in the second set, with the Lady Trojans winning that set 29-27. However, Homer then fell short in the next two sets (23-25) & (20-25), therefore giving Westhill the win.

"The girls gave it all they had tonight," stated Homer head coach Jeremy Cook. "I am so incredibly proud of how they represented themselves and their community with such hard work and determination tonight. We knew that if we were to have a chance we needed to win one of the first 2 sets. Winning a set against this extremely talented well coached Westhill team alone was going to be a tall task. They only lost a small handful of sets the entire season.  The girls did what they needed to do, put the pressure on Westhill and won that second set."

Homer ended the game with a team total of 98 digs, 18 assists and 17 kills.

"Tonight was the final match for 9 amazing people, players and teammates who have given everything to the program and done all the right things since 7th grade," added coach Cook. "They had dreams, and goals to make it to the final and they did just that. Heads are high tonight because they all know that they did all they could."
